You'll find lots of information throughout the website, but here are answers to a few questions that don't quite fit anywhere else. If you can't find what you're looking for, please get in touch.
Furniture Commissions
Do you work on furniture that's already been painted?
Generally, no. I prefer to work with original, unpainted vintage furniture so that I know exactly what I'm working with and can prepare and finish it properly. If you're unsure about your piece, please send me some photographs.
Is there any furniture you don't transform?
Yes. I don't take on wardrobes, Welsh dressers, modern or IKEA-style furniture. If you're unsure whether your piece is suitable, just send me some photographs and I'll happily advise.
Do you carry out carpentry or structural alterations?
No. My expertise is in transforming and refinishing vintage furniture rather than carpentry or structural alteration. Minor repairs can sometimes be undertaken where needed and would be discussed with you beforehand.
Can I provide my own wallpaper or handles?
Absolutely. Personal details are part of what makes a bespoke commission special, so I'm very happy to discuss using your own wallpaper or particular hardware as part of the design.
Do you buy vintage furniture?
My main focus is transforming furniture my clients already own rather than purchasing furniture for resale. Very occasionally, I may be interested in a particularly special piece for my Naked Furniture Available for Commission collection – especially writing bureaus or quality vintage furniture by makers such as Ducal, Stag, G Plan and Harris Lebus.
If you have something you think may be of particular interest, you're welcome to send me photographs and details, but I acquire only a very small number of carefully selected pieces.
What if I don't own the furniture I'd like transformed?
Take a look at my Naked Furniture Available for Commission collection. I keep a small, carefully collated selection of vintage pieces ready to be transformed especially for their new owner.
Workshops
What if I can't find a 1-to-1 workshop date that suits me?
Please get in touch. I may be able to arrange an alternative date that works for us both.
Can I book more than one workshop day?
Yes. If you have a particular project or would like more time to develop your skills, get in touch and we can discuss the best option.
Bespoke Homewares & Shopping
Can you create bespoke tableware using my own wallpaper?
Yes. I can create totally unique tableware using your own suitable wallpaper, subject to the design and material being suitable for the project. Get in touch and tell me what you have in mind.
Can I collect my order from you?
Yes. Collection from The Furniture Bureau in Stotfold SG5 can be arranged by appointment.
