Returns & Refunds

Returns & Refunds

At The Furniture Bureau, I take enormous pride in the quality of every piece I create and want you to be delighted with your purchase.

If, however, something isn't quite right, please get in touch as soon as possible. As a small independent business, I believe that most issues can be resolved quickly, fairly and personally, and I'll always do my very best to help.

Returning an Item

If you've purchased an eligible stocked item, such as creative supplies, and have changed your mind, you have 14 days from the date you receive your order to request a return.

To begin the process, please email hello@thefurniturebureau.co.uk with details of the item you'd like to return and the reason for the return.

Returned items must:

  • Be unused and in their original condition.
  • Be returned in their original packaging wherever possible.
  • Be sent using a reliable, fully insured delivery service appropriate for the item.

If you need advice on arranging a suitable courier or postal service for your return, I'll be happy to help.

For your own protection, I also recommend taking photographs of the item before it is collected or posted.

Unless the item is faulty or has arrived damaged, return postage costs are the responsibility of the customer.

Non-Returnable Items

Please note that the 14-day returns policy applies only to eligible stocked items. It does not apply to bespoke furniture commissions, personalised homewares, made-to-order products or workshop bookings, which are subject to the terms below.

The following items cannot be returned unless they are faulty or arrive damaged:

  • Bespoke furniture commissions.
  • Personalised or custom-made homewares.
  • Made-to-order products.
  • Workshop bookings.
  • Gift vouchers.
  • Sale items, unless they are faulty.

Because bespoke commissions are created specifically for you, they cannot be resold and are therefore non-returnable unless they arrive damaged or develop a genuine fault.

Vintage Furniture

Every vintage piece has lived a previous life and may display small signs of age, character or previous use.

Any significant marks, repairs or historic features will always be highlighted before purchase and form part of the unique character that makes vintage furniture so special.

By purchasing vintage furniture, you acknowledge and accept these natural characteristics.

Damaged in Transit

Every order is carefully packaged before leaving The Furniture Bureau.

If your order arrives with obvious damage, please:

  • Inspect the item as soon as possible.
  • Photograph both the packaging and the item.
  • Notify the courier immediately if damage is visible on delivery.
  • Contact The Furniture Bureau within 24 hours of receipt so that I can investigate the matter promptly.

Prompt notification helps me work with the courier to resolve any issues as quickly as possible.

Faulty Items

In the unlikely event that your item develops a genuine fault, please contact me as soon as possible.

I'll ask for photographs and a brief description of the problem before discussing the most appropriate solution with you.

Where an item is confirmed to be faulty, I'll work with you to arrange a repair, replacement or refund, depending on the circumstances. If a return is required due to a confirmed fault, reasonable return delivery costs will also be reimbursed.

Refunds

Once your returned item has been received and inspected, I'll contact you to confirm the outcome.

If a refund is approved, it will be processed using your original payment method. Please note that your bank or payment provider may take several working days to complete the transaction.

Workshop Bookings

Workshop places are reserved exclusively for each participant and require advance preparation, materials and planning.

For this reason, workshop bookings are non-refundable.

If you're unable to attend your booked workshop, please let me know as soon as possible. Where sufficient notice is given and availability allows, I'm happy to offer one complimentary transfer to an alternative date.

Any additional postponements or cancellations will not normally be eligible for a refund or further transfer.

Please note that workshop bookings made through third-party platforms may also be subject to their own booking fees or commission charges, which are outside my control and cannot be refunded.

Questions?

If you have any questions about this policy or need help with a return, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

My aim is always to provide friendly, personal service and to resolve any concerns fairly and as quickly as possible.
